As a new department we are challenged to build our long-term resources in the form of endowments as well as to secure short-term resources to support our residency. We are dependent on the generosity of you, our alumni and friends, to achieve these goals.

Photo of Students at Microscopes Endowments will be used to recruit and support new research faculty. Our research program has grown dramatically since 2001. In our first year in the NIH rankings, we were number 19 of the 38 programs ranked. Our goal is to become the top dermatology research program in the country while we tackle prevention and cures for skin cancer. Attracting new researchers requires funding for space, equipment and salaries. Endowment funds will be used for those purposes.

Short-term funds will be used to support the training programs in our residencies. Dermatology is dependent on imaging and other technology. The standard of care now requires that each resident have a digital camera, a PDA for access to formularies and other technology including computers, microscopes and presentation equipment. Digital images for their research and education need to reside in a well-maintained online library. Traditional print libraries need to be updated constantly. Your contributions will enable us to continue to provide these resources for our training programs.
